Cambodia: The Essentials (2 weeks)
Cambodia has some stunning unspoilt beaches, the magnificent ancient City of Angkor, and some wonderfully accessible culture. The great news is that you can see all this in just 2 weeks!
Culture & Ancient Civilizations
Landing in the capital Phnom Penh, you can first soak up a bit of Cambodian history by visiting the Royal Palace and a visit to the moving Killing Fields of Choeung Ek. Heading north west you can make a stop at Kompong Chhanang to see the floating villages, or just head straight to the laid back town of Battambang. Give yourself a couple of days there to enjoy the town, make sure you ride the exhilarating Bamboo Train and see the mesmerising bat cave. If you want to to get a glimpse of rural Cambodian life go on a culture tour. Seeing a show of the the young Cambodian circus (no animals) is highly recommended! Take the boat day trip to Siem Reap to see an insight into Cambodian life on the river. Get in some quality souvenir shopping in Siem Reap and enjoy the international restaurant and party scene. To get the most out of exploring the spectacular ancient City of Angkor it’s recommended you give yourself 3 days, using the third day to visit some of the superb remote temples, or possibly a and a trip to the landmine museum or animal sanctuary.
The Southern Beautiful Beaches
Next to Sihanoukville on the south coast to relax or party on its beaches for a few days. You could hop across to the stunning secluded paradise beaches of Koh Rong or Koh Rong Sanleom, where you can get in some great snorkelling and diving. Finally back to Phnom Penh to fly out.
