Tha Pai Hot Springs

These hot, steaming sulphuric springs, which are supposed to have therapeutic properties, and the water comes bubbling out of the ground at around a scorching 80°C. Simple baths have been fashioned where the hot springs meet a stream of cold water to cool temperatures to bearable levels. There are two options to visit these springs; for both head south out of Pai on the Rural Rd Mae Hong Son 4024. Pai Hotsprings Spa Resort has sign posts along the way and is the first option about 7km from town on your right. You can keep going another kilometre to the ‘official’ Tha Pai Hot Springs on your left (sign posted). The Pai Hotsprings Spa Resort pools are cleaner, better maintained and substantially cheaper at 100B, opposed to 300B (for foreigners). A bit of a no-brainer really. The last entry time is 6:00pm, but you can stay as long as you like, which is nice because the water cools down after sunset.
