Silom Nightlife

The Silom area nightlife is most famous for its red light district of Patpong, but it also boasts some of the city’s best skyscraper rooftop bars as well as some cool venues. Here’s our pick of the best of them. Breaks (Bar/Club) 12” vinyl covers line the walls of this funky little club and its music policy is just a cool. Its Japanese owner is dedicated to playing an eclectic blend of techno, Latin, disco, DnB, funky hip-hop and anything that’s just got a cool grove. Definitely highly recommended for eclectic music lovers and those that want to avoid mainstream cheese. Address: 46 Soi 2/1 Silom Road (next to Richard's restaurant, up the stairs) Tapas Room (Restaurant & Bar) This two storey venue is all about a funky Balearic house vibe with Thursday to Saturday enhancing the DJs sets with live percussion. It’s located right at the top of the gay popular Soi 4 but attracts a straight hip crowd. It can get pretty heaving at the weekend! Address: 114/17 Silom Soi 4, Silom, Bangkok Bada Bing Go-Go Bar Set over two floors and every night has 20+ go-go girls in skimpy outfits dancing on the stages in this funky lit bar. It also has no dress code and friendly staff whilst still being a really cool venue with spectacular360° views over Bangkok! Entry: Free Open: 5:00pm – midnight, closed Sundays Getting Here: A few mins walk from the Sala Daeng BTS station and Silom MRT station. Address: 47th Floor, United Center Building, 323 Silom Rd., Silom, Bangkok Sky Bar (Rooftop Bar & Restaurant) Set on a 63rd floor rooftop is a spectacular bar designed by the guy that created movie sets for Blade Runner. It’s an impressive looking bar with even more impressive views, a great place to be for a sundowner. Its popularity has exploded with its Hangover II connection so it can get painfully busy and the drinks prices equally as painful, there is also no seating at the bar. The venue and views over Bangkok and the Chao Phraya River are probably the most spectacular in Bangkok so it can be worthy box ticker. If you want something more laid back in the area, go for Cloud 47.
