Saturday Night Market
"Saturday Walking Street" is a night market that opens from 5:00pm to 11:00pm and is very similar to, but much smaller than the Sunday Market on Ratchadamnoen Road. It starts from the southern moat, opposite the entrance to the Old City and runs the entire length of Wualai Road, and is sometimes known as Wualai Market. Many of the vendors here are common to both markets, and you will find similar wares, such as carved soaps, novelty dog collars, wood-carvings, Buddha paintings, hill-tribe handicrafts, handmade toys, homeware, Thai musical instruments, T-shirts designed by local students, paper lanterns and umbrellas, silver jewellery and herbal remedies. Street food is available, and in particular you can find a wide variety of food in a small night food market near Soi 3. There are also a few cafes scattered along the road. Although some tourist guides report this market is not well patronised, it has recently been getting every bit as popular and manic as the Sunday market. So if you want to have a relatively peaceful stroll, it is advisable to go early before the main tourist crowds arrive.
