Takeo

Takeo used to be a busy port town, but now that trade has moved elsewhere and nowadays it's just a charming, low-key rural town. The town has a lakefront area and promenade, which is nice to walk down in the late afternoon. At the western end is a cement pier overlooking the lilly-pad filled lake, which looks beautiful when they are in flower. Scattered around the town, are some nice old colonial villas. Besides relaxing on the waterfront, a trip to the nearby Phnom Da and Angkor Borei ruins is the main draw here, although these can be done as a long day trip from Phnom Penh.
