Phare Circus
A great circus performed by young Cambodians doing juggling, acrobatics, clowning, balance and dance set to a Cambodian story (no animals). The humour is cranked right up and is entertaining for adults and children alike. They also perform their own music. Phare Ponleu Selpak (PPS) is a Cambodian non-profit association working with vulnerable children, young adults and their families through arts schools, social support and educational programs. Your ticket goes to supporting PPS who now support over 1000 children. There are two performances a day, 4:30pm and 8pm. There are three grades of ticket price based on seating positions - front centre (class A) US$35 (child age 5-11 US$18), rear centre (class B) US$25 (child US$15) or side views (class C) US$18 (child US$10). The tent is not huge so you can see from most positions, the exception is if you end up with a pole obscuring your view. If you have a class C ticket, get there 30 mins early to ensure you get a good seat. Class A and B do sell out a good few days in advance, so you're advised to book early through the website if you want Class A or B. The show lasts about 1.5 hours. Don't arrive late as there is no entrance after the performance has started (for the safety of the artists and the comfort of other guests). The circus is a 5 min tuk-tuk out of town, $3. There will be tuk-tuks waiting outside when you come out.
