Rachabut Night Market

This market is located in the centre of town by the banks of the Mun River and is basically a food market, although you might also be able to get a foot massage and find a souvenir or two. The market is famous for its wide variety of different Asian foods; from Vietnamese to Lao to Thai to Chinese - BBQ, sticky rice, papaya salad, Vietnamese pancakes and a host of foods that you've probably never come across before. There is also a huge variety of fruit shakes and other locally made drinks. If you have a good constitution, can tolerate spicy food and are not too fussy about western standards of hygiene, this is the place to try out all the regional delicacies. The market is located at the corner of Ratchabut Rd. and Khuean Thani Rd, against the banks of the Mae Nam Mun river. Open: Dusk till midnight.
