Wat Tham Pha Plong

Set amidst lush, mountainous jungle is the modest Wat Tham Pha Plong. Reached by a peaceful walk up over 500 steps through shaded forest and the panoramic views from the wat are breath-taking. A monk known as Luang Pu Sim found Pah Plong Cave whilst wandering in solitude through the forest, looking for places to meditate. He later established a monastery here and the mountain remained his residence for the rest of his life. Walking up the staircase you will see Buddhist proverbs hanging from trees, to reflect upon as you make your tranquil accent. It really is wonderful scenery with birds, butterflies and beautiful fauna around you. It’s also likely you won’t see another soul on your way up. There is a carpark near the bottom of the staircase and it is just a few hundred metres down from the Nest and Malee’s guesthouses.
