Trekking Around Tha Ton

There is some great scenery around Tha Ton and also six hill tribe villages nearby inhabited by Karen, Akha, Black Lahu, Palaung and Yunnanese. None of them sees that many tourists and so you will be treated well by your hosts if you choose a homestay. A few treks seem to have linked up with a Karen guide called Renato; a very friendly, passionate guide with good English. If you choose to do a homestay on a trek with him, it will be his house. If you’re looking to visit tribes with traditional dress etc. enquire when organising your trek what the villages you will visit are like. Treks can be arranged through any guesthouse in Tha Ton, and prices are very reasonable.
